Situated in the vibrant heart of Manchester on Faraday Street, The Peer Hat is much more than your average nightspot — it’s a dynamic fusion of bar, live music venue, and night club that perfectly captures the city’s eclectic spirit. From the moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in an unpretentious yet lively atmosphere that blends a “trashy” charm with genuine warmth, making it a standout gem among Manchester’s nightlife.
The Peer Hat’s beverage selection caters expertly to lovers of craft and classic pub drinks alike. Their impressive lineup includes rich, dark Guinness, a rotating selection of cask beers, refreshing cold brews, and more adventurous choices like the spicy Michelada and crisp ciders. The presence of Punk IPA serves up a hoppy punch that appeals to hop-heads looking for something bold. The pricing is refreshingly fair, reflecting the venue’s commitment to value without compromising quality.
Customer reviews beautifully echo the venue’s inviting character. Luka’s recommendation praises its distinctive vibe, while Dave Lovely highlights the “great space downstairs” and a well-stocked bar with “decent prices.” Thom Clark’s words paint it as the ideal after-work hangout—a chilled environment with polite staff, good music, and a community feel that makes it easy to envision turning this spot into a regular haunt.
Jason Wilson’s experience sums it up: a “cracking little back street pub” that offers not only a friendly atmosphere but also a genuine sense of place with access to Aatma, a live music venue just through a well-lit alleyway upstairs. The friendly and pleasant bar staff, alongside a healthier-than-average balance between busy and intimate, make it an effortless place to settle in for both casual drinks and lively nights.
Carl Brammer’s glowing appraisal as “the best pub in central Manchester” underscores the venue’s ability to accommodate larger groups without losing its welcoming, chatty vibe—something not easy to achieve in bustling city center venues. The Peer Hat’s magnetic combination of alternative music programming, quality drinks, and a lively yet laid-back atmosphere truly sets it apart.
Whether you’re hunting for a relaxed spot to unwind after work, a lively evening with alternative music, or a well-priced drink in the heart of the city, The Peer Hat invites you to experience Manchester nightlife through a lens that’s authentic, unpolished, and altogether magnetic. It’s a place where you don’t just visit — you belong.

A nice bar with a "trashy" atmosphere. I would definitely recommend.
New venue to me, great space downstairs, and a really good bar on the ground floor with a good choice of cask beer - decent prices too.
Chilled atmosphere, nice people, polite bar staff and great beer. My friend recommended it as a chilled vibe after work with good music. Only my 3rd day in Manchester but could easily make it a "regular haunt". Heard they're a great venue for alternative music too. Sadly I wasn't staying later to experience, maybe next time.
Cracking little back street pub. Went on a Saturday before going to Aatma which is through the back door up a well lit alley and upstairs. Nice busy little pub with a friendly atmosphere. Drinks aren't over priced and the bar staff were all pleasant and friendly. Well worth calling in .
Best pub in central Manchester that I've been to. Good selection of pints and drinks available. A large group of us were able to sit comfortably and the pub has a better atmosphere than any of the places round the corner. Staff very friendly and chatty.
